Komiza - island Vis

Tourist destination info Komiza - island Vis

Komiza is located in a deep bay on the western coast of the island of Vis, at the foot of the Hum hill. This is a typical Mediterranean town with narrow streets and stone houses, placed directly one next to another. The population of Komiza has long been involved in fishing and, more recently, tourism. Pebble beaches with numerous springs of drinkable water stretch along the eastern side of the Komiza bay.  Numerous settlements and islands belong to the town of Komiza, as well as two volcanic islands – Brusnik and Jabuka. Those in search of sports and recreation can enjoy parachute sailing, diving, riding, numerous excursions on the surrounding islands, as well as numerous other activities. Gastronomy enthusiasts can enjoy the delicacies of this region in the restaurants “Falkusa” and “Senko”, as well as in the tavern “Bako”. Ask around the local agencies and go on excursions to nearby towns such as Split, Trogir and Omis and explore its history and natural beauties.

Be sure to visit

Split is an eternally young town which lives at a slow pace to which it is easy to accustom. It is the second largest town in Croatia and one of the most popular and most visited tourist destinations on the Adriatic. It is rich with historical cultural sites, such as: the Diocletian’s palace – the heart of Split, Iron gate, statue of Gregory of Nin, St.Duje cathedral, St. Frane cathedral, St. Petar concathedral, Peristil, St. Ante convent and numerous others.

Trogir, or as many call it – “museum town” is located in the center of Dalmatia. Its harbor is a favorite destination for boaters because of good position and natural protection. The town is famous for its numerous historical monuments, some of which are: old town core, fort Kamerlengo, St. Marko fortress, sculpture of the Blessed Ivan Orsini, St. Jeronim chappel, Cipico palace, renaissance church of St. John the Baptist, the portal of Radovan, museum...

Omiš is a small Mediterranean town located at the mouth of the river Cetina. Of its historical characteristics, we emphasize the following: the fortresses Mirabela and Fortica, parish church of St. Michael, Franciscan monastery, churches of St. Peter, Holy Spirit, the Illyrian seminary, old cemetery, medieval town center, pole of shame and the old town lodge. Sports fans can take part in river rafting on the Cetina, free climbing, wind surfing, swimming marathon, beach volleyball and other activities.

Komiza is a really nice, lively town with exquisit restaurants. I can highly recommend the restaurant "Del Mar" with their daily offers. Most of the agencies offer tours to the "Blue Cave", however, some also offer day tours including the Blue Cave, Stiniva cave and beaches. Highly rexommended
