Pirovac

Tourist destination info Pirovac

Pirovac is situated on the northern coast of the Bay of Pirovac, a natural phenomenon which is cut 10 kilometers into the rocks and Mediterranean vegetation. Previously called Zlosela, the name was changed to Pirovac in the year 1930. That same year, on the millennial anniversary of the coronation of Croatian king Tomislav, a statue in the shape of a pyramid was erected and presented to the public. Nearby are two national parks: Krka and Kornati, and only 5 kilometers away is a nature park "Vransko jezero" (Vrana lake). Pirovac is a lively, nice place which attracts tourists with Sitnica bay, Vrulje, Macrina - deposits of medicinal mud are found here which are used in thalassotherapy - and Vrilo with its pebble beaches. A special attraction is the islet Sustipanac, located directly in front of Pirovac, where you can relax and enjoy swimming as well as sunbathing. While private accommodation prevails in Pirovac, guests have at their disposal a hotel complex with villas, bungalows, a camp and additional facilities. Private restaurants, taverns and pizzerias offer Dalmatian specialties as well as other gastronomic delights. We recommend that you visit restaurants “Adrian", "Malo misto", "Mali Raj" and pizzeria "Berekin". If you are a nature enthusiast do not miss visiting NP Krka, Kornati and Vrana Lake.

Krka National Park can be visited throughout the year. The waterfalls of this river are a natural phenomenon and the reason that it has been named a National Park. Visit the Skradin Buk (the greatest barrier in Europe), the Bilušić Buk, Miljacka, Brljan, Rošnjak, and the Manojlovac and Roš falls. In the Krka National Park there are two cultural monuments, the Franciscan monastery on the island of Visovac and the Krka convent. Visovac is an islet full of trees, colorful flowers, fruits and vegetables planted and maintained by the monks.
Kornati National Park is the most separated island group in the Mediterranean. With its clear sea, abundance of sunshine, numerous bays, coves and ports it is the unavoidable destination for seafarers and one of the most wanted tourist destinations. Indulge in discovering hidden bays, swimming in the unsurpassed cleanliness of the sea and enjoy the various delicacies offered in restaurant “Ante” in the Vrulje bay, restaurant “Piškera” on island Piškera and restaurant “Fešta” on Žut island.
Vransko Jezero Nature Park is the largest natural lake in Croatia. It is an unusual and extraordinary bond of land and sea which offers protection for the greatest variety of animal and plant life. The specificities of this park are the ornithological reservoir, home of four different types of endangered species of birds on the European level and seven on the national level, a rich history (the first extractions date back to 2000 year BC). The landmarks of the park are the following: late antique tower “Orsidak” (built in the 4th century), Venitian tower “Orsidak” (built in the 15th century as the last line of defense from the Turkish attacks on Vrana lake and the Adriatic coast), Babin škoj peninsula, Vrana old town and many others. While in Pirovac, take the opportunity to visit other nearby cities which will delight you with their historical monuments and night life.
Zadar is a city with an extraordinary history and extremely valuable cultural heritage. It is located in the very heart of the Adriatic and is an abundant source of archaeological and monumental treasure from all periods. Of the above mentioned attractions the most interesting is the sea organ which is the first of its kind in the world. It is a cooperation between human ideas and skills and the energy of the sea. It is a place for thinking and talking along with the continuous concert of mystical tones of the “orchestra of nature.”

      Cute community village!
We stayed here during our visit to a festival held at a local venue. It was the perfect place to reset and integrate with the locals. One of the taxi drivers reccommended a community even that was happening during our stay, the donkey races, which are apparently a 100 year old tradition. It was nice to experience some of the culture during our stay. Also the food is very good.
