Brodarica

Tourist destination info Brodarica

Brodarica is a small village located 5 km south of Šibenik. It stretches for nearly 5 km along the sea facing nine islands which make up a lagoon, as well as the Gulf of Morin which houses fish hatcheries. The local economy is mainly based on tourism. The northern part of the bay in Brodarica is rich in medicinal mud deposits, making it suitable for development of health and wellness tourism. Brodarica is a peaceful, pleasant village comprised of villas and private houses suitable for family holidays and swimming at the picturesque rocky and sandy beaches. Many family homes and apartments in Broadarica offer quality accommodation.

New tourists and visitors are continually attracted to Brodarica by its large offer which includes restaurants, cafés, night clubs, sports playing fields (tennis, mini golf, table tennis), aqua sports, scuba diving and others. The city offers a variety of dining facilities which offer authentic Dalmatian cuisine. It is home to one of the most famous fish restaurants in the region, “Zlatna Ribica.” We highly recommend that you take the opportunity to visit this restaurant and taste their various fish specialties prepared in Mediterranean style. During the summer months, you can seek entertainment in several cafes and beach bars, or visit two large night clubs “Aurora” and “Hacienda” which are located in nearby Vodice. You can also take a trip to Šibenik which is only 6.5 km and has an excellent bus connection. If you are traveling with children, you can visit the Šibenik Children’s Festival which was first held in 1958 and has the goal of developing all art forms of children’s creativity. You can also attend the Evenings of Choirs (held in order to promote the choral tradition of Šibenik and its surrounding area), the Evenings of Dalmatian Chansons (festival of the best Croatian performers, songwriters and composers, named the best cultural event of Šibenik in 1998 and 1999), organ summer school and the Šibenik cultural summer. Šibenik is a city with a turbulent past which is evident from its numerous cultural monuments such as the following: St. Michael’s fortress (built between 15th and 17th centuries), St. Nicholas fortress (built to protect the city from Turkish attacks from the sea in the 16th century), St. John’s fortress (built in 1646), Šubićevac fortress (also built in 1646 and had significant role in protecting the city from Turkish attacks), St. Jacob’s cathedral (construction lasted for more than 100 years, entirely made of stone), St. Francis church (built in 14th century, represents gothic style without decorative elements) and the four wells (public city cistern built because of frequent draughts, renovated and used today to serve the purpose of a city stage in the various cultural events; there is a café and wine bar “Bunari” in the basement of this complex). Those who are brave and have a thirst for adventure can try bungee jumping from the Šibenik bridge (the only bungee jump from a bridge in Croatia). The island Krpanj is located 300m from Brodarica and it is the smallest, shortest and most inhabited island in the Mediterranean. Its highest point is at an altitude of 1.25 m and has a tradition of creation of sea sponges which are valued for their beauty and quality. In the tranquility of this small town you can find an ambience that suits your wishes. While in Brodarica, do not miss the opportunity to visit Šibenik, Primošten, Split and Zadar.
