Podaca

Tourist destination info Podaca

Podaca is a tourist town located in the southern part of the Makarska region, located 35km away from Makarska itself. It was founded on the rocky slopes of Mount Biokovo. The town is divided into three sections: Kapeć, Viskovića Vala and Ravanje. Today, like the majority of the Makarska region, Podaca is completely centered around tourism. Aside from tourism, the locals also deal with fishing and olive growing. The old settlement is completely abandoned. Nearby is the church of St. John on the cemetery, built by the Kačić noble family and it is one of the most important monuments of early medieval construction, while at the entrance to the town is a tower with the remains of a wall built to serve as protection from the Turks. With the beautiful beaches (Ravanje, Vala and Kapače – all pebble beaches) surrounded by pine trees and the culinary offer of Dalmatian specialties, as well as the near vicinity of attractive excursion destinations makes Podaca an attractive destination for a quiet vacation. While in Podaca, do not miss the opportunity to visit larger tourist destinations such as Makarska, Omiš and Split.

Makarska is one of the most famous tourist destinations on the Croatian coast. The city is full of tourist activities and everyone is sure to find something to their liking. Makarska has several historical monuments such as the Franciscan monestary (which includes a Pinacotheca, a library, a Malacological museum, and the “Planina i More” institute) the church of St. Mark, church of St. Peter, city museum and the church of St. Philip. Those who prefer sports and recreation can take part in cycling, sailing, jet-ski riding, basketball, hunting, soccer, volleyball, paragliding, hiking, rafting, fishing and scuba diving.

Omiš is a small Mediterranean town located at the mouth of the river Cetina. Of its historical characteristics, we emphasize the following: the fortresses Mirabela and Fortica, pariš church of St. Michael, Franciscan monastery, churches of St. Peter, Holy Spirit, the Ilirian seminary, old cemetery, medieval town center, pole of shame and the old town lodge. Sports fans can take part in river rafting on the Cetina, free climbing, wind surfing, swimming marathon, beach volleyball and other activities.

Split is one of the best known and most visited tourist destinations in Croatia and the second largest city in the country.  It is an eternally young city which lives with a slow pace that is very easy to get accustomed to. This city is rich in historical monuments of which we recommend the following: Diocletian’s palace (the heart of the city), the Iron Gate, the statue of bishop Gregory of Nin, the cathedral of St. Duje, church of St. Francis, cathedral of St. Peter, the main court, city basement, St. Anne’s monastery and many others.

Kastel Luksic is a very nice town, there are basic shops and bars. During the month of August they do a lot of concerts and festivals of all kinds. The beach is not very long, shingle but convenient (it&;lsq;uo;s also really close to the apartment) Nearby there are a few restaurants. A walk is in Kastel Kambelovac and is called Baletna Skola. Another is in Kastel Novi and the Intrada, very popular for dinner you have to book in advance. Also in Kastel Novi there well as Skullcap restaurant also good. The Kastela coast is 14 km long and is everything from supermarkets to pharmacies. If I can recommend a beach in addition to those of Kastela, I suggest you go on the island of Ciovo which is in front, and that is connected by bridges. Or the coast after Split (Split) towards Dubrovnik. The city of Split is 14 km from Kastel Luksic and is a must as well as Trogir also nearby. A bit &;lsq;uo;more distant to the north (the kilometers I do not remember) but always easily accessible, there is the city of Sibenik.
